5 Ways to Get Your Backyard Ready for Barbecue Season

It’s springtime in Florida and you know what that means. It’s time to fit in as many weekend barbecues and backyard gatherings with friends and family as you can before the summer heat comes around.

There’s nothing better than having good conversations and better food with people you enjoy being around. But if you want your backyard to become the place to be this spring, you need to do a little prepping.

Here are five simple ways to get your yard barbecue ready this spring.

1. Spruce up the Backyard

The first thing you need to do before throwing an outdoor party is to clean the backyard so that your guests feel comfortable outside. Set aside some time for basic outdoor maintenance like yardwork on the days leading up to the barbecue so that you can mow the lawn, sweep away any dirt from the patio, clean your outdoor furniture, and prune any overgrown shrubs.

2. Clean Your Pool

If you have a pool and you really want your outdoor gatherings to be a huge success, give your pool a good cleaning a couple of days before the event. That way, you can turn your barbecue into a pool party. Just make sure to let your gets know ahead of time to bring towels and bathing suits.

3. Prepare a Fire Pit

There’s nothing better than sharing stories around the fire. And with springtime, you never really know when it’s going to get chilly. For this reason, having a fire pit and wood on hand is the perfect way to ensure that everyone stays comfortable once the sun goes down. Plus, you can bring out the marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers and make s’mores.

4. Set up a Drinking and Snack Station

Whether you’ve got a full-fledged bar cart or just a couple of coolers lying about, you need to have a designated area for snacks and beverages. Along with sodas, juices, and other beverages, make sure that you have sufficient bottled water on hand and ample ice to keep the drinks cool. For snacks, set up an area on the table for chips and dip, nuts, bread and cheese, and any other snacks for people to eat on while waiting for food.

5. Make Sure You Have Enough Chairs

In order to throw a successful outdoor party, you want to make sure that your guests are comfortable. Don’t assume that everyone wants to stand for the duration of the event. Instead, make sure that you have enough seating available for everyone to get a seat – whether it’s in chairs or on benches. And you might want to also consider buying a few outdoor umbrellas so that your guests can sit in the shade.
